Trafficking Policy

Sleaford Building Services is committed to driving out acts of modern-day slavery and human trafficking within its business and that from within its supply chains, including our working organisations, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Sleaford Building Services acknowledges responsibility to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will ensure transparency within our Company and with the organisations, suppliers of goods or services and any subcontractors to Sleaford Building Services is committed to ensuring that Slavery and Human Trafficking is not taking place within its workforce or supply chain.

This statement is made in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. These organisations, suppliers and subcontractors make up our supply chain and as part of Sleaford Building Services due diligence processes into slavery and human trafficking, the supplier approval process will incorporate a review of the controls undertaken by the relevant supplier.

Imported goods from sources from outside of the UK and EU are potentially more at risk for slavery/human trafficking issues. The level of management control required for these sources will be continually monitored.

Sleaford Building Services will not support, or deal with, any business that is knowingly involved in slavery or human trafficking. The Company Director shall take responsibility for implementing this policy statement and its objectives and shall provide adequate resources (training etc) and investment to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place within the organisation and within its supply chains.

A copy of this policy statement and a copy of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 will be accessible to all employees electronically and can be obtained from the Main Office upon request.

Formal procedures concerning slavery and human trafficking will be established, including disciplinary procedures where they are breached. Additional procedures ensure that this policy is understood and communicated to all levels of the Company, and that it is regularly reviewed by the Director to ensure its continuing suitability and relevance to the company activities.

Scope: This policy applies to all staff employed by Sleaford Building Services including managers, contractors, employees on probationary periods, apprentices and our supply chain. The company is focused on building long-term, sustainable partnerships with its stakeholders including our clients, employees, contractors, consultants and supply chain.

Definitions: Sleaford Building Services considers that modern slavery encompasses:

  • Human Trafficking

  • Forced work, through physical and/or mental threat

  • Being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement

  • Being controlled by an employer through actual or threat of mental or physical abuse

  • Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property

Commitment

Sleaford Building Services recognises and acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling Modern Slavery and commits to complying with the provisions made by the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

The company does not enter into business with any organisation which, knowingly supports or is found to be involved itself in slavery, forced or compulsory labour.

Supply Chain: We have zero tolerance to Slavery and Human Trafficking. We expect that any contractors and all that are in our supply chain comply with our values.

Responsibility: Any person working for the business, either employees or contractors, must ensure that they do not engage, facilitate or fail to report activities that may lead to suggest breach of this policy.

Suppliers must not facilitate or provide a service that in any way involves modern slavery.

The Business support team must ensure that measures are in place to monitor and manage the policies and procedures in place in accordance with this policy.

Policy breaches by employees will result in disciplinary action and a likely consequence would be dismissal from the company. Breaches made by supplier and contractors would result in the cessation of any further business transactions.

Measures: The measures we have in place to try and prevent any type of slavery or human trafficking within our company or through our supply chain are:

  • to ensure that Contractors declare through the vetting procedure that they will adhere to our policy on Slavery and Human Trafficking. Further to this we would also request declaration that they have the appropriate right to work documents in place for all staff.

  • To select and audit suppliers’ policies at random annually to ensure that they have adequate policies in place regarding Slavery and Human Trafficking.

  • Carry out pre-employment checks and take the necessary right to work documents from all employees.

Training: We will provide training to our staff to ensure high levels of understanding around the risks of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking in our business.

Future steps: Sleaford Building Services intends to continually review its approach to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and developing its internal processes to support. This policy will be reviewed annually in line with any legislative developments.
