LZC Technologies
LZC (low- and zero-carbon) technologies, often misinterpreted as renewable technologies, are typically considered a specialist knowledge and skill set. Although experience is required in these systems, we do not view them as specialist but as the new normal. Our team has experience working on a range of LZC systems, including biomass boilers, air- and ground-source heat pumps, anaerobic digestion, absorption chillers, solar thermal, and photovoltaic (PV) panels.
Supply and Demand
Generating energy through low or zero-carbon technologies only improves sustainability if the energy can all be used efficiently. Installing a biomass boiler that is too large for the building load or not maintainable increases the installation’s carbon footprint due to reduced part-load efficiency and the embedded carbon in underutilised equipment.
We will ensure that the system performance matches the demand. We have extensive experience with district heating systems, which are a highly effective way to utilise LZC energy and integrate well with our low-embedded-carbon modular plant rooms.
Sustainable Construction
Sustainability is about more than just utilising low-carbon energy. Embedded carbon dioxide emissions and pollution from materials and equipment play a major part in a project’s sustainability. Off-site manufacturing has a much lower embedded carbon footprint than traditional construction methods, due to reduced personal travel and waste, and higher levels of quality control.
Design rationalisation helps reduce the quantity of materials and equipment used during installation. Effective and efficient controls are also essential for reducing energy waste throughout the installation’s lifespan.
